The One Trillion Trees Initiative of the World Economic Forum is a great step towards preventing climate change. Trees are the best way to reduce the CO₂ concentration in the atmosphere. They are affordable, scalable, and there’s loads of additional benefits that are gained by planting trees. We can prevent climate change if we really manage to plant One Trillion Trees – and at the same time address many of the other UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Groasis published its mission The Treesolution - in which it pleaded to plant One Trillion Trees - in 2008.
Since then the company has been developing the tools to make this possible.

According to the UN in 2025 48 countries will suffer from severe water scarcity. How can we ensure that the trees survive?
Groasis has developed 6 high-tech solutions to plan, execute, monitor and improve anti-desertification agroforestry and reforestation plantations so they are low-cost, scalable, and successful.
Have we got enough land available to plant One Trillion Trees?
According to the World Resource Institute from Washington we have approximately 2 billion hectares of wasteland available. Wasteland is land that is located in hot climates, in areas where the soil is dry, degraded, and eroded.
The advantage of wasteland is that it is cheap. So, if we can plant trees on wasteland, we can take anti-desertification measures through reforestation, whilst at the same time offsetting CO₂ at low costs.

The problem of wasteland is that water is scarce, and trees tend to die after planting. According to the UN in 2025 48 countries will suffer from severe water scarcity. How can we ensure that the trees survive? Can we plant One Trillion Trees while saving water?
Agroforestry in combination with reforestation and/or ecosystem restoration, to combat desertification.
The world’s population will grow from 7 to 10 billion people in the next few decades. Our food production must increase by 30%, but today agriculture already uses 70% of the global fresh water. How can we improve the water efficiency, so we can feed a growing population?
There is a cheap, water efficient, solution. It is a Dutch invention and called the ‘Groasis Ecological Water Saving Planting Technology’. Groasis – named “Most innovative small & medium enterprise of the Netherlands” by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in 2018 – has developed 6 high-tech solutions to plan, execute, monitor and improve anti-desertification agroforestry, reforestation and ecosystem restoration plantations. They are low-cost, scalable, and successful.
To increase infiltration of rain into the soil.
To make planting holes that leave the capillary system intact.
A natural solution that replaces fertilizers and works with very little water.
To plant trees and/or vegetables in hot, dry and eroded areas – or deserts – with 90% less water, at 90% lower costs and with a survival rate of +90%.
shields the young tree from sand storms, heat, frost or grazing animals.
helps you plan, execute, monitor and improve your planting results through the intelligent use of remote sensing, in combination with high-tech AI software and databases.

If you want to propose tree planting projects to the One Trillion Trees Initiative of the World Economic Forum, we can partner with you. We can help supply knowledge, training and our products to help you execute your project and achieve great results. If you want to be a Licensed Producer (in order to produce our inventions in your local market, so that your cost price reduces considerably) then contact us. Let’s cooperate to reach the One Trillion Trees objective through reforestation, afforestation, ecosystem restoration or agroforestry projects, where we produce more food with less water.
Many companies are seeking to offset their CO₂ emissions – to become ‘net zero’, to ‘abate their emissions’ or to ‘reduce their carbon footprint’. Tree planting can be financed by selling CO₂ credits, and projects done with Groasis’ technology on degraded land can earn you an attractive profit. You only have to finance the planting: once the trees grow, they will generate cash income, year after year. With the Groasis Earth Observation platform we can perfectly monitor CO₂ offset project for you.
